The State Duma voted on Tuesday to approve, in principle, a package of tax reforms that economists describe as the most significant overhaul of fiscal policy since the early 2000s.

The legislation passed with 312 votes in favour and 89 against. It now proceeds to committee for detailed review before a second reading expected in June.
